Did you know, leg cramps during pregnancy could be a sign of a mineral deficiency?

Minerals like magnesium and potassium are needed more during pregnancy to assist with healthy cell multiplication in your baby. Plus they also help with your mood, sleep, and muscle function.

If you’re getting leg cramps during your pregnancy, make sure you eat food rich in magnesium and potassium.

Two of my favorite are bananas and cacao. They are both rich in magnesium and potassium, and blend together wonderfully in this smoothie. The chia seeds are also added for protein to help keep you full for longer – and for fiber, to help keep your digestion moving to prevent constipation.

What you need

 

1 banana, frozen

3 tbsp cacao

1 cup almond milk (unsweetened)

1/2 cup ice

1 tsp chia seeds

What to do

 

1.  Place all ingredients into blender.

2. Blend until smooth.

3. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.
